General Notes:
After the death of his father, in 1777, Jacob and his brother, Ludwig (46), and his sister, Anna M. (47), moved with their mother to Passyunk township near Philadelphia, where they lived in the home of another widow. About 1783, they moved to York County, and lived with Verionca's relatives. Verionica raised her children in the vicinity of St. Jacob's Lutheran & Reformed Church in extreme South central York Co., Codorus Twp. Jacob purchased a small farm in June of 1794 in Codorus Twp. In 1804 the family purchased a larger farm, consisting of 134 acres and 60 Perches for $1,146.67. This new farm was located in a part of Shrewsbury Twp. Jacob was active in The Church of the Brethren and was ordained in the church in 1833.
