bullet  General Notes:

Tax record from passyunk Township show that from 1769 to 1783 indicate that Ludwig(1) and Ludwig(2) indicate that they were involved in agriculture, probably a dairy farm. Passyunk Twp. is now south Philadelphia.(later rec. info. that farm also had bees, chickens and an orchard).
Word of mouth thru several generations indicate that Ludwig(2) fought his one and only Revolutionary battle with Hessian soldiers, who insisted on robbing his farm of cattle, fences, chickens and honey bees. This led to a small privite war and Ludwig(2) was forced to flee from the Hessions from out of a sick bed. Exposure to the cold waters of the Schuylkill River which he was forced to swim brought his death.
A letter written by a grandson of Ludwig(2) says" They settled down near Philadelphia. After a while they moved into the city to the corner of Whale Bone Alley. They continued living there thru the time of the Revolutionary War. the British Army came tothe city on Sep. 27, 1777 and took possession of Philadelphia. and destroyed all their property. My old grandmother was baking bread at the time and the soldiers took the half-baked bread out of the oven and threw it away. At the same time the old grandfather was lying on his deathbed and he died at that time and is buried in Philadelphia
Some of this data doesn't match.(RLF)
Ludwid died young in ? 1779? in the Philadelphia area. His death record is at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran church in Philadelphia.
