General Notes:
I am 58 now, My best memories of you are of when you brought your family back to visit in Bismarck and I played with your VERY little girls at Ruth and Israel's house, where Grandpa then lived. I remember how sweet the children were. Our oldest son was four months old when Uncle Israel passed away. He is 32 now!
At one point, when I was in high school, I was doing a report for a history class on geneology and discovered all the DAR stuff that (Great-) Aunt Grace had. My sister Joey got interested in this also at the time. We wrote some letters after Mother died (1966, the yr I graduated from H.S.) to Geo? Edward? Falkenstein in California with info he had requested from different family members then. Mother had communicated with him before she passed away.
So I have a couple of stories in my head that are not exactly the same as the notes you have made about individuals in the Tree -- namely, the Ludvig that had come over on the Anne Galley (name from info from Aunt Grace) in 1746? from "Hessen-Cassal", Germany, at the time of his death was an old man, bedridden, and that the (mercenaries for British army) Hessian soldiers had come to his house (the dates of his son's death in the war indicated to us that he would have not been present in the home), pulled his bed out into the road/street, and burned his house down in front of him. He soon died of exposure (happened in the winter?). The thing that seemed noteworthy to us at the time was that the Hessian soldiers seemed to have come from close by (Hesse-Kasal now) back in Germany, and we wondered if Ludvig may have been victim to some sort of old-country conflict in that his home seemed to have been singled out over here. Did you ever hear anything that had this angle to the story?
I've enjoyed reading some of the details -- like the PA stuff, as my husband is from Pittsburgh, but has family we have visited often in eastern PA. I LOVE that we trace back to medieval times -- that's so fun to enviison!
Anyway, I need to ask you to correct my own family info, please, as follows:
