RALPH CARLSON

Ralph Carlson, 87, North Eighth Street, Bismarck, North Dakota, died Wednesday, March 10, 1993 in a Bismarck hospital.

Mr. Carlson was born July 27, 1905 on the family farm southwest of Mandan, North Dakota, where his family homesteaded. He attended rural schools and later served on the Highland School Board. He married Grace Irene Falkenstein on June 26, 1935 at Baldwin, North Dakota. They farmed south of Mandan, and he particularly enjoyed farming with a team of horses. They farmed until 1950 when they moved to Bismarck, where Ralph worked at the Farmers Union Central Exchange Warehouse, now known as Cenex. Grace died March 10, 1966. Ralph retired in 1970. He married Hilda Whitman on June 5, 1971 at Bismarck. They continued to live in Bismarck.

They enjoyed their church life, and Ralph liked working in his garden and on woodworking projects. He was especially known to make miniature harness and wagons. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda, Bismarck; four daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and Roger Buelow, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Linda Carlson and Bob Smith, Fargo, North Dakota, Joanne and Skip Edmonds, Northfield, Minnesota; two step-daughters, Marion and Charles Eastgate, Bismarck, and DeEtta and Hal Schuler, Casper, Wyoming; two step-sons, Gordon Whitman and Candace Whitman, Oklahoma, and James Whitman and Cheryl Whitman, Bismarck; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Ralph married Grace Irene Falkenstein-[384] [MRIN:88], daughter of Ira Jacob Falkenstein-[176] and Emma Alvina Anderson-[357], on 26 Jun 1935 in Baldwin, ND. (Grace Irene Falkenstein-[384] was born on 14 Jun 1909 in Croft Twp., Burleigh Co., ND, died on 10 Mar 1966 in Bismarck, Burleigh Co., ND and was buried in Mar 1966 in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.)
