Lucille Kling, 93, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, North Dakota, died Saturday, September 30, 1995, at the care center. She was born on May 27, 1902, in Ecklund Township, Wilton, North Dakota, on the family farm, the daughter of Herman and Matilda (Anderson) Falkenstein. Lucille was raised and educated in Ecklund Township, receiving her grade school education in school #4. She moved to Bismarck and attended Bismarck High School. She worked as a telephone operator and at the café in Wilton, along with being the assistant postmistress for three years. She then worked as the switchboard operator at the Patterson Hotel. Lucille married Elmer Kling on March 5, 1925, on the family farm near Wilton. The Kling's lived in Dunn Center, North Dakota for a while before returning to Wilton. Here they continued to farm and raise cattle and hogs. Mrs. Kling was a resident of the Kensington for three years and for the past nine years has been at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. She was active in the senior citizens, a member of Sunne Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary (Wilton), life member of the Still Homemakers Club. She enjoyed traveling, having made several trips to Hawaii, Europe and Australia. She will be remembered as "The Lefse Lady." Mrs. Kling is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cloteal and Palmer Spencer, Honolulu, Hawaii; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and RayMona Kling, Regan; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Wallace and Vera Falkenstein, Bismarck, and Florence Kling, Dunn Center; seven grandsons, Craig, Tom, Marlin, Jerry and Tim Kling, Reyn and Chris Spencer; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 2, 1960, her parents and two sisters.
